Jan Baelus

was born mid eighties near the city of Antwerp, Belgium. It was at a young age that his parents had a hunch Jan would develop more towards an artistic skillset compared to other abilities. He started high school doing Fine Arts in  Antwerp. This consisted learning all classical art forms. Observational drawing, painting, sculpting, technical drawing and even photography. After finishing this art school he went to Ghent starting Animation film in the Academy of royal Arts. He finished his education with a masters degree. In these years of study Jan witnessed the transition between analog evolving into digital media. This was a big learning curve.

After graduating he developed his digital skills doing, animation, digital painting, matte painting, 3D sculpting and modeling. Jan worked for several years for small media companies in Gent. When one of those companies went bankrupt Jan came across a job opening designing theme parks for a big Belgian Theme park. He applied for the job and started working as a designer.

But the love relation with traditional arts was not forgotten. The desire to paint and sculpt with tangible materials became a flight to escape his personal struggles.

Jan is a sculptor on a mission to breathe life into monumental dimensions. With a passion for transforming spaces into powerful narratives, he crafts sculptures that transcend the ordinary, evoking emotions on a grand scale. From public installations that ignite community pride to private commissions that redefine personal landscapes, Jan’s monumental sculptures are an invitation to experience art in its most awe-inspiring form.
